EXCELLENT Based on 77 reviews Posted on Google Pauline DunnTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This is the second time I have used this company. First was to completely remove a conifer tree , and yesterday , to trim back some willow trees at the back of the garden. From start to finish this company was excellent. From coming out to quote and then when they came out to actually do the job. They arrived at agreed time . We're excellent at keeping everywhere clean and tidy .Everything had to go through my kitchen as there is no access through my garden, also the trees were actually on school premises with a large , high wire fence so that made it extremely difficult for the team . Extremely happy with all the did .I would definitely use this company again .Posted on Google First PlaceTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Darren and the Treescapes team have been fantastic. On time and did an excellent job. They took off 25% off some of the bigger trees and did away with a lot of the dead wood. I can highly recommend to anyone in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire area looking for tree surgery.Posted on Google Jake MillerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Really great work, used a couple of times now and will continue to do so!Posted on Google Abigail TullTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Definitely recommend Darren and his team. Communication was great, popped over to give a very competitive quote and came the next week to trim the trees. Lovely job, they look great, thank you!Posted on Google simon mattickTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We are delighted that we booked Darren and his team to do some work for us. From my initial call to him, the service we received was friendly, helpful - giving us advise from his 30 plus years of experience - and also every professional. In addition, having made an initial site visit, Darren was able to book us in for a few hours of work a couple of days later. The work included pruning some trees and some bushes, taking out and replacing some other bushes/plants with multi purpose compost added, edging the front beds and laying bark chippings on them, plus applying a top dressing to the bed in the rear garden. They cleared up all the waste and took it away, too. All at what we considered to be a reasonable price. Darren was also flexible and agreed to prune a couple of trees and a bush in our neighbours garden. They were also very pleased with the work undertaken. In summary, we can thorougly recommend Treescapes Garden Services and they will have repeat business from ourselves and our neighbours in due course.Posted on Google Davina FrameTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We can only describe them as the very best.Posted on Google Jessica MouldenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. An absolutely fantastic service from start to finish. Darren and his team were polite and friendly. He talked me through everything so we had a clear understanding of what was to be achieved and some tips on maintaining my garden. Highly efficient and impeccably tidy. Would not hesitate to recommend!Posted on Google Stephanie AllenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Treescapes Garden Services is a family run tree surgery and garden care firm covering Henlow and the villages around it. The yard sits on Station Road in Lower Stondon, inside the SG16 Henlow postcode.
Tree work here falls under Central Bedfordshire Council. Quotes are free and usually come back within 24 hours.
Plenty of people expect a tree surgeon covering a village this size to drive in from Bedford, Luton or Milton Keynes. Ours is closer than that. The yard is on Station Road in Lower Stondon, and the postcode on the door reads Henlow.
Being that near shows up in small practical ways. A quote visit takes minutes rather than half a morning, and coming back to check something after high winds never turns into a special trip. Firms advertising for Henlow work from thirty miles away have to build that travel into the price somewhere.
Villages either side of us get the same service, including just up the road in Stotfold and Hitchin. There is every town and village on our list on the areas page.

Henlow parish holds two settlements, and their gardens are nothing alike. The old village around St Mary's church has mature trees standing close to boundaries, walls and older buildings. Work there goes slowly, usually taken down in sections rather than dropped in one piece.
Henlow Camp grew up around the airfield from the First World War onwards. Gardens there tend to be postwar estate plots with younger, faster growing trees and more shared boundaries, so hedges and overhanging branches come up far more often than big removals.
Change is coming as well. The base is due to close in 2026, and a developer is preparing plans for up to 270 homes on land east of Hitchin Road. New gardens bring new planting, and boundary hedges that will want a shape putting on them within a few years.
Find the work below, or call us on 07778 639748 if you are not sure which it is.
Take height and weight off a tree so it suits the garden again. We can scale a tree back without losing it instead of removing it.
Some trees really do have to go. We take a tree out altogether, in sections where space is tight.
A stump left in a lawn is a trip hazard and a mower killer. We can deal with the stump afterwards on the same visit.
High winds do not wait for office hours. Ring us if there is a tree down across a drive or road.
Estate boundaries and old village hedges both want a firm line. We handle keeping boundary hedges in shape through the season.
Trees are only half the work. Ask about clearance, mowing and the rest of the garden.
For the wider picture, see what tree surgery covers.
Henlow sits under Central Bedfordshire Council. Hitchin and Letchworth sit under North Herts. Those two keep separate tree records and separate planning teams, so a Henlow garden is never checked on the same system as one a few miles south. Getting that wrong is the most common reason a job stalls before it starts.
Part of the old village lies inside the Henlow conservation area, where trees are protected whether or not they carry a Tree Preservation Order. Six weeks of written notice has to go to the council before felling, lopping, topping or uprooting, and doing the work inside those six weeks without consent is an offence.
Applying costs nothing, so the only real price of doing this properly is a bit of patience. These checks happen before we quote, not after. There is more on what the council checks before tree work, and you can read the council's own guidance on trees in conservation areas (opens in a new tab) as well.
We will look the tree up before quoting. Free, and no obligation.
No two trees cost the same, so every job gets quoted on its own. Size and species set the starting point. After that it comes down to access, what is standing underneath, whether the tree has to come down in sections, and how much waste there is to shift.
Being outside the VAT threshold means the figure quoted is the figure paid. Waste goes with us and gets recycled. For the longer version, we have written up what pushes a tree job up or down in price.
Joe is NPTC and Lantra qualified and works on the trees himself. Nobody gets handed to a crew they have never met.
£5m public liability and £10m employers liability. Ask any firm for those figures before they climb anything.
Same family, same patch, since the late 1980s. Quotes usually land within 24 hours of us seeing the job.
You might, and the check goes through Central Bedfordshire Council. A Tree Preservation Order or a spot inside the Henlow conservation area each bring rules with them. We look it up before quoting so nobody gets caught out.
A dead tree in a conservation area still needs five days of notice to the council. Take clear photographs before anything gets cut, because pictures settle most arguments later. Anything genuinely dangerous gets made safe first and evidenced properly.
Yes, clearing up is part of every job. Wood, brash and chippings all leave with us, and we hold a waste carrier licence. Logs can stay behind if you want them for the fire.
Branches crossing the boundary can normally be cut back to the line, but the cuttings and any fruit still belong to your neighbour. Protection changes that, because a Tree Preservation Order or a conservation area covers overhanging branches too. On the estates around the Camp, where boundaries are shared, a quiet word before anyone starts saves a lot of bother later.
Usually within 24 hours of seeing the job. Quotes are free and carry no obligation. Anything needing a council check takes a little longer, and we will say so up front.
Yes. BS 3998 is the British Standard for tree work, and it sets out how cuts should be made so a tree recovers properly. Poor pruning shows up years later, which is why the standard matters more than it sounds.
